  1. Heavy Load

From the recording Heavy Load

I was sitting on the edge of my bed in Jacksonville,Fl,when I heard that Gov't Mule bassist Allen Woody died.If not for the music of the band,I'd never have left Charleston,SC to try and make my own way with a couple of friends. The way he played truly was the heavy load, and though he never showed to be tired on stage,I'm sure a weight was lifted the day he left us.His playing still drives me on the search for the perfect bass player who never ventures above the 5th fret, unless it's for dramatic effect, never losing the groove, and always carryin' the weight.Thank you Allen Woody, rock on.

Lyrics

show me a place to rest my bones.
show me a place to rest my bones.
my feet,they stumble and drag,ooh
I'm carryin' a heavy load
take these tired hands of mine
won'tcha take these tired hands of mine
and lead me to a place in the light, woo
I fear I'm wanderin' blind
(solo)
I'm lost and I don't know the day
I said I'm lost and I don't know the day
won't you help this stranger along, woo
I'll be on my way
show me a place to rest my bones
won'tcha show me a place to rest my bones
my feet they stumble and drag, woo
I'm carryin' a heavy load
